Buying Spotify Plays Killing The True Artist

In this blog I will cover what I have discovered as a independent artist. This all started with the release of my own album in 2016. Before it's release I read about tunecore, reverbnation, copywriters, Google adsense, YouTube monetizing, Streaming on Spotify, Itunes, Apple, Google play and much more. So basically knew how to set myself up. I even took a crash course in targeting my potential fans through, facebook, Instagram, and Twitter ad's.

I first started with a video for my single"Wrapped In Chains" I used targeted ad's on facebook and quickly got around 52,000 plays but, not much reactions and the reactions I did get looked odd. A lot of profile were from Afghanistan and almost looked fake. I let it go being I was excited I just got 52,000 plays on my first single release and no negative feedback. After discovering the issue with reaching mainly Afghanistan people, I felt my music has a message for my fellow Americans so I switch the target range to just American, Russian, and Canada. Even after doing this all my traffic was still Afghanistan people and Bangladesh. Happy to have any potential fans I still knew something wasn't right. This goes on for a few more $5.00 ad's when I noticed I'm getting a bunch of likes but, also unable to even invite those likes to my page. After all this I target just America this time no traffic..... Note this doesn't just happen with my music but, I run a small painting business and even making a ad with a video that auto plays in people's news feeds my results will read the following.

People reached 11,000- video plays 1,000- instantly in my mind how did I reach 11,000

People if a video that auto plays any time someone scrolls over only has 1,000 plays.

That's just an example me of trying to explain. Facebook wants you to run that ad so basically they are sending you fake traffic and stats so that you continue to run that ad. Do some people see it probably but, not enough to keep giving a already multi million dollar company your hard earned money when you know there is something for everyone and someone bound to dig your services weather it be music, some kind of trade skill or art, everyone deserves a chance to make it. after all this is the land of the free and opportunity right?

Okay so enough about facebook for now, bottom line facebook is a marketing platform now so don't waste your pennies.

Okay streams in the music industry. Buying your plays, followers, band likes. You ever wonder why you see like the "catch me outside girl" doing rap and she got all kind of money in a hand or we got somebody like 69 with colorful hair and colorful teeth and his music ain't really that good but he's got all kind of money or in some cases a dude in a wedding dress...lol

They know the game and it's a joke! " While my people struggle these people laugh" Let me fill y'all in some of y'all probably noticed and others don't. I'm going to post a link at the bottom of this post as well to a site that you can buy streams. People like that go to these sites they create a little song they invest about $2,500 they buy 2 million plays set up a tunecore account once those two million plays go through and turned into like $8,000 you do the math.

You basically just keep doing this on repeat and keep stacking up the money. Not only can you buy your plays you can buy your stats online, your Instagram followers, Twitter followers, Facebook followers, Facebook likes, SoundCloud plays/listeners. So what's goes on basically to a listener if they see bought plays stats reaching the millions versus somebody who might actually have a good song and not that many plays reality of situation is the listening is going to pick the one with more plays so it's basically just an illusion casting out the guy who might potentially have a good song.

This also makes it very hard for a indie artist with little to no money of ever being heard. Not to mention you have endless scam sites like reverbnation claiming success when really I believe they send you fake stats as well so you pay they're yearly subscription. NOTE* look out for promoters or promotion packages as they are mainly scams as well.

Now as far as media/social media and all the crap we see. Unfortunately as human beings we feed off of violence. So those that control know this so they feed it to us throughout social media, News Station, and now through music that has no meaning. With things like racism, cop shootings, political left and rights.

So why does all this concern me, honestly I didn't know the music industry and social media worked like that until I fell on hard times and wrote a "The Observer" album to help get me through it and to be totally honest I was hoping maybe to gain the support to help get me back on my feet and to continue writing my music but I discovered so much more. This all concerns me because we're beginning to choose money over freedom of expression the value of connecting with one another. Violence is now a joke it's funny, it's also a paycheck and that's pretty sad. I write this blog because I feel it's the right thing to do to tell people something I've discovered that's going on around me I don't think it's right when we are all out there struggling to survive.

I don't know what some of these artists are doing with millions of dollars in their pocket but I couldn't sleep at night knowing there were people who supported me still struggling, homeless people in the streets. Half of my friends and family are going to jobs they hate and all along my government sits in some high chair, and points a finger it's just the truth something tells me I'm not so different in my thoughts. We just need to find a way to break through. I'm going to leave this blog up I'll keep adding to my blog here and I will also continue to write my music but after the release of this blog I'm going take a break from social media. It's time to focus on my everyday life and get the money saved to get the tools needed to start getting out there live.

May the maker bless us all and we start coming together as human beings and snuffing this shit out. Until next blogs friends. Spread love and always stand up for what you believe in!

Peace!

If you think the things I talk about just aren't true here is a link. you do the math.
